Nepal is a small, landlocked country in the central
Himalayas, situated between India and China. It
is about two-thirds of the size of the state of
Victoria. Although located in the subtropical
climate zone between latitudes 27°N and 30°N,
Nepal has a wide range of climates. This is because
of the great variation in altitude, from as low as
50 metres on the Terai Plain to Mount Everest.
